Kaikari Pirrattal/Mixed Veggies Fry

Yesterday i was thinking what to prepare differently as i was bored with my usual cooking and wanted to try some new variety. Then only i got this recipe from Mallika Badrinath's cookbook and when i tried it came out well and was really happy that now i got one more dish to my menu.My hubby loved it when he had with hot rice and ghee. This is one of the chettinad variety.

Ingredients :

Carrot 2(small sized)
Beans 5-6 nos
Potato 1
Onion 1(small sized)
Tomato 1(small sized)
salt req

To Grind :

Grated coconut 1 tbsp
Red chillie powder 1/2 tsp (optional)
Khus Khus/Poppy seeds 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds 1/4 tsp
Roasted gram dall1 tbsp

Seasoning :

Oil For Sauteing
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves Few

Method :

1.Cut the veggies into small pieces and boil them and set aside.

2.Grind the items given under the grinding column.

3.In a wok pour oil and do the seasoning and then add the onion, saute till transparent.

4.Now add the chopped tomato and saute till the tomato turns mushy.

5.Now add the grind-ed paste and saute well till you get a nice aroma.

6.Once u get a nice aroma add the boiled veggies, salt and water.

7.Now saute it well the gravy becomes thick as a fry and then put off the fire.

8.Now serve it with hot rice and ghee.We can mix with rice or can have with curd rice too.But tastes good when mixed with white rice.

Notes :

1.We can even use cauliflower and peas.

2.We can also substitute red chillie powder with red chillies.

3.Since i used a non stick wok i added the veggies when the grind-ed paste did not stick to the wok and came as a ball.
